About Us
John McClure Snook was a businessman, historian and great visionary who helped operate, maintain and grow the family business of the very first telecommunications company in southern Baldwin County, Alabama.
Established in 1929 by John's father, Ward Snook, Gulf Telephone Company provided service to residents of South Baldwin County for seven decades. Because of John Snook's foresight and planning and his desire to help those living in the community of which he was a part, The Snook Foundation was established in 1972.
